In January 2019, Dr. Daniel Walden assumed the role of Superintendent/President at Victor Valley College (VVC), moving his family to the high desert where he purchased a home, sealing his commitment to remain there until retirement with his focus on leading the college to a higher level of excellence. Among his many accomplishments during his time at VVC, he has overseen the construction of a new “one-stop” student services facility and an Educational Event Center and Stadium. Dr. Walden led the college to become a Hispanic Serving Institution, and inspired college employees to reach for Aspen Prize recognition. Dr. Walden also led in the growth of the college, increasing enrollment by 50% in the last two years. Prior to joining Victor Valley College, Dr. Walden served as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Los Angeles City College, which provided him with diverse experiences related to all campus operations. He has a Ph.D. in Education with a focus in Higher Education Administration from Claremont Graduate University. He has worked with academic programs over the past twenty-five years to improve processes for enrollment management that focus on under-prepared and socio-economically disadvantaged students. His years of direct administrative experience also include serving as a dean of academic affairs that encompassed assignments in student services and institutional effectiveness. In addition, he has extensive accreditation experience serving for ten years as an accreditation liaison officer (ALO) and as an external evaluator on eleven accreditation teams.
