Icilda Wallace

(Icilda) Ionie Wallace retired from San Bernardino County Fire Protection District after working for 27 years. She served as Deputy Fire Marshal (DFM) for the last five years before retirement. As DFM, Ms. Wallace had managerial responsibility for the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Hazardous Materials Management Divisions. Prior to her assignment to DFM, she supervised the County’s HHW division for twelve years. Under her leadership, the HHW division won many national and state awards.
Ms. Wallace co-authored a health and safety training manual that both North American Hazardous Materials Management Association and the Solid Waste Association of North America use in their baseline training classes for HHW technicians. Ms. Wallace was also an authorized OSHA safety trainer for general industry and was a California Specialized Training Institute certified instructor. Ms. Wallace holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science from California State University, San Bernardino, a certificate in hazardous materials management from the University of California, Riverside and certificates in Community and Public Health from the University of the West Indies and West Indies School of Public Health, Kingston, Jamaica.
